Responsibilities
- Select appropriate medical codes and modifiers for diseases and injury diagnoses, acuity of care, and procedures.
- Enter data into an automated medical records database.
- Train medical records technicians on coding methods and procedures.
- Pull reports upon request based on the information needed.
- Review medical records information ensuring compliance with quality assurance regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience which includes applying medical record procedures; coding a wide range of diseases/injuries diagnoses using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10 CM) coding guidelines; coding medical/surgical procedures using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding guidelines; and spot checking medical records to ensure consistency, completeness, and/or compliance with applicable standards.
