  • GENERAL SUMMARY

    • Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, the Specialty Imaging Technologist performs procedures requiring advanced technical skills and designated advanced imaging procedures (MRI). Displays a high understanding of complicated requests from internal and external providers. Ability to work in many different areas providing coverage for Outpatients, Inpatients and the Emergency Department.
  • FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Operates imaging equipment while performing specialty (MRI) procedures
      • Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
      • Reviews medical record/referral order for patient history and pertinent clinical information.
      • Transfers patient's to imaging table, explains procedures and positions according to imaging protocols.
      • Monitor patients' well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action. Uses proper positioning techniques.
      • Guide patients through the sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding the exam process: pre-exam processing, performing the exam, and post-exam documentation.
      • Keeps patient schedule and attempts to accommodate add-on patients when requested. Communicates delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate person(s).
      • Demonstrates good judgment when correlating patient history and scanning protocols. Knows when to divert from routine images and/or when to enlist assistance from radiologist to achieve high quality diagnostic images.
      • Adheres to safety guidelines and patient safety screening for MRI patients (as applicable)
      • Follows all safety procedures including appropriate use of PPE.
      • Maintains cleanliness of all rooms and imaging equipment per hospital policy and manufacturer recommendations.
      • Utilizes applicable aspects of the Radiology Information System.
      • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
      • Contributes to Radiology Students learning, growth, and advancement by sharing knowledge through hands on learning, constructive feedback and mentoring.
      • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
      • Enhances hospital and departmental reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
      • Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures in addition to federal, state, and local requirements.
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Education
      • Associates Degree - Radiologic Technology or equivalent



      • Registered with the ARRT (MRI)
      • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
      • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the State of New Hampshire.
