Job Overview:
The MRI Technician performs diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging procedures within the scope defined by Regulatory and Departmental QC standards. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Trade/Vocational training in Radiologic Technology
- 1-3 years general radiology experience
- NJ license
- AART certification
- BLS through American Heart Association
Preferred:
- ARMRIT certification

- Day Shift
- Per Diem Scheduling
Essential Functions:
- Adapts to varying work requirements dependent upon departmental need
- Addresses patient and medical staff concerns
- Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and M.R.I. tables
- Assists in the orientation of department and hospital personnel, as appropriate
- Assists the physician in the administration of contrast media required for procedures
- Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis
- Checks requisition for physician notations and/or special instructions
- Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills
- Describes nature and time requirements of requested examination to patient, at an age-appropriate level
- Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor/charge staff; offers solutions as appropriate
- Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures working with patients ranging in age from neo-natal to geriatric
- Positions patient to obtain desired views; applies immobilization devices as required
- Recognizes emergency situation, initiates code procedures
