Nurse Manager of Emergency Room & ICU/Progressive Care
General Summary
The Nurse Manager provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of the assigned department(s) under the direction of the Director of Nursing. This position is responsible for monitoring clinical safety, quality of care and customer service, and supervising the caregivers responsible for direct patient care. The Nurse Manager is responsible for identifying non-standard performances with the initiation of corrective actions as indicated, ensures compliance with JCAHO, ODMA, and Federal standards. Assists in the education and professional development of all caregivers. Collaborates and maintains teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Maintains fiscal responsibility in the utilization of resources, maintenance of productivity, and performs management duties. Works with the Administration staff and other department directors to resolve mutual concerns. Coordinates professional relationships in the Medical Staff Committees. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires a minimum of a BSN.
- Leadership and management skills, preferred
- Demonstrates skill in finance/budgeting, computer applications, organizational theory and application, human resource management, management applications, and customer service marketing, preferred
- Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to continuing professional growth, development and excellence required.
- Maintains good physical/emotional well-being and a positive attitude
- Possess personal qualifications such as kindness, sympathy, good judgment, and the ability to relate effectively.

- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Minimum of two years of management experience in an acute care facility or healthcare area, preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
- CPR and ACLS certification required
- TNCC certification, preferred
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work and move between all the areas of practice. Excellent hand/eye coordination. Manual dexterity to operate personal computers and standard office machines needed.
