Nurse Navigator
Job Summary
Provides cancer care, educational and emotional support for patients with cancer diagnosis in a holistic manner and in partnership with other healthcare professionals. Works in collaboration with others to create interdisciplinary systems of care that facilitate timely diagnosis, treatment and survivorship for the cancer patient. Will be point of contact for the patient throughout the continuum of care. Follow up with patients on regularly defined intervals after treatment. Participate/attend community service events. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and is highly organized. Will be an active member in accreditation activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Preferred
- Three to four years of Surgical, Medical, or Radiation Oncology experience
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Registered Nurse (RN), with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification
- Must obtain within one (1) year of start date
