Position Summary

The Psychiatric Provider is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and behavioral health treatment for patients receiving detoxification, residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and/or outpatient services. This position works collaboratively with the Medical Director, Executive Director, Director of Nursing, and interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered psychiatric care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, substance use assessments, medication reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Diagnose and treat psychiatric and co-occurring substance use disorders utilizing DSM-5 criteria and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychiatric and detoxification support medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical presentation and response to treatment.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director regarding complex psychiatric cases, detoxification protocols, and medication treatment strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric consultation for urgent behavioral health concerns.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultations, and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment recommendations, and recovery planning.
  • Provide education and clinical guidance to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members regarding psychiatric conditions and medication management.
  • Maintain availability during assigned on-call or clinical coverage periods.
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission standards, state licensing regulations, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DEA requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Foster a culture of compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current licensure as one of the following:
    • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
    • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
    • Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Active state license in the state of practice.
  • Active CAQH profile.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • 2-5 years of behavioral health, addiction medicine, detoxification, residential treatment, or psychiatric practice preferred.
  • Experience treating individuals with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders preferred.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Ability to communicate diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans clearly and compassionately with patients and families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Experience with detoxification protocols and withdrawal management.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and behavioral healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in residential, PHP, or substance use treatment settings.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed in a clinical and/or remote office environment.
  • Ability to use computers, telephones, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Employees working remotely are responsible for maintaining an ergonomic workspace that is secure, professional, and free from distractions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through electronic communication systems.

Weekends: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10am-6:30pm
