Nurse Practitioner (N.P.)        

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (N.P.)         

Location:  Leonardtown, MD 20650

Duration: 3 months  to long-term

Shift hours: All shifts, 8-hour and 12-hour

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide routine and urgent medical care to the incarcerated/detainee population.
• Conduct scheduled sick calls five days per week, as assigned by the SMCDRC.
• Conduct physical examinations of newly admitted incarcerated/detainees, as applicable to the role.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of practice.
• Prescribe and manage medications as authorized within the applicable scope of practice.
• Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and other medically necessary tests and services.
• Identify conditions requiring referral to a physician, specialist, hospital, or other healthcare provider.
• Coordinate specialty referrals, hospitalizations, follow-up care, and continuity of treatment.
• Maintain accurate medical records and required clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with the HSA, physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and other healthcare staff.
• Provide services in accordance with Maryland requirements, NCCHC/MCCS standards, SMCDRC policies, and applicable laws.

Certifications / Licenses

• Current Maryland N.P. license
• Active  BLS/CPR
• Current applicable professional certifications and credentials.
