Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide care within his/her scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy, and practice agreements.

Scope of Responsibility

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within the OB-GYN service line, he/she is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patient with conditions in a clinical setting that includes telehealth medicine. He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients to assess, diagnose and treat the health care needs of women throughout their lifespans. He/she is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with women's health needs. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant demonstrates an advanced level of medial clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and system-based practice. He/she works with administrative, nursing, and physicians to assure safe, effective, and quality patient care.

Minimum Requirements

  • If Nurse Practitioner - Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program and current licensure with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
  • If Physician Assistant - Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program and current license with the Texas Medical Board
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • 3-5 years working in a OB-GYN setting preferred
  • Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
