NURSE PRACTITIONER PSYCH
POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide high quality psychiatric services in an integrated care program within the scope of family medicine utilizing a team-based model. Psychiatric Clinician collaborates with Primary Care Physicians and Behavioral Health Consultants. The Psychiatric Clinician provides psycho-pharmacotherapy for primary care patients and psychiatrist consultation for other providers in an ambulatory care or telehealth clinic setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determines nature and extent of mental health or substance use disorder and formulates treatment program in collaboration with treatment team.
- Actively participates in meetings that support ANHC's integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients.
- Provide sound and ethical pharmacotherapy.
- Monitor progress in regard to pharmacotherapy.
- Monitor all needed labs and laboratory findings in order to provide holistic care (combination of mental and physical health).
- Provide psychopharmacologic approaches to meet client issues.
- Provide emotional supportive techniques to clients during medical clinic appointments.
- Provide information and opinions from psychopharmacotherapy point of view to any problems discussed in Treatment Team.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Provides appropriate professional psychiatric services consistent with your professional training and ability within health centers scope of service.
- Comply with organizations policy, procedure, processes and clinical guidelines.
- Participates in Peer Review and Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities, provider meetings and other meeting as required to be an active corporate citizen of the organization.
- Prescribes psycho-pharmacological medications in accordance with national, state and clinic guidelines, and collaborative practice agreements.
- Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress.
- Refers patients for consultative services as may be required for the patient's well-being or plan of care.
- Works a regularly planned clinic schedule and works with other clinic staff to optimize patient access to care.
- As an employee of a federally qualified health center, the Psychiatric Clinician will see all scheduled patients regardless of race, ethnicity, social or economic designation and will demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and needs.
- Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records. Responds to requests from coding and billing staff in a timely manner.
- Responsible for timely addressing patient requests and tasks
- Participates in after-hours call services as designated.
- Arrange for cross coverage of tasking inbox/paperwork when out of the office.
- Keeps customer service and the mission of the organization in mind when interacting with all clients, co-workers, and others.
SUPPORTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations and injections.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Work Experience: Previous experience working in a resource constrained area with psychiatry, substance use and diverse populations is preferred. Interpersonal skills that demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and work with a multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrated competencies in dealing with all age groups.
Education, Certification and Licensure: Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant with special emphasis on psychiatric training or M.D. degree and completion of psychiatric residency.
Must possess licensure in the State of Alaska as either an Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Medical License, or Physician's Assistant License. Current BLS certification and unrestricted DEA license.
Additional Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual preferred

Work is performed in a healthcare clinic and office setting. Occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials may reasonably be anticipated during the performance of patient care duties.
