Occupational Therapist
POSITION PURPOSE
The Occupational Therapist position is responsible for the provision of medically prescribed Occupational Therapy programs and treatments for in-patients and out-patients with mental, emotional and physical disabilities to restore function and minimize disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. Responsible for helping the patient reach maximum performance and to assume a place in society, while learning to live within the limits of the patient's capabilities.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years working clinical experience in Rehabilitation or Occupational Therapy in an acute care facility and/or out-patient therapy setting, to include one (1) year of working clinical experience in hand therapy with custom splinting.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
- Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of New Mexico; to be maintained current throughout employment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in handling interactions with hospital staff, patients and families.
- Advanced knowledge of provider schedule management and utilization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of the front-end revenue cycle process, including patient registration, government and commercial insurance processes.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural and language differences. Practice courtesy towards patients, visitors and staff.
- Adherence to Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) policies surrounding patient safety, infection control and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA).
- A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
Preferred qualifications
- Five (5) years working clinical experience in Rehabilitation or Occupational Therapy in an acute care facility and/or out-patient therapy setting, to include one (1) year of working clinical experience in hand therapy with custom splinting.
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Current Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
