Position Summary
HealthBridge St. Louis is looking for a Occupational Therapists (OT) to join our team. Full time and PRN opportunities available.  The ideal candidate will have exceptional knowledge and a background in the evaluation and treatment of patients with complex neurological conditions, brain injury, and other disorders requiring intensive rehabilitation services.  The OT implements high quality occupational therapy services for patients, in accordance with the state regulations, principles and practices of occupational therapy and facility policies and procedures. Performs patient screening, evaluation and treatment. Documents patient evaluation, treatment and progress in an accurate and timely manner. Communicates patient status to family and appropriate facility staff. Supervises assistants and aides. Maintains positive level of interaction with patient, families, rehab team and the facility staff. Refers patients for treatment to other disciplines as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Performs screening, evaluation and treatment in a timely manner for all patients who could benefit from intervention following the company’s policies and procedures.
  2. Develops a care plan and provides high quality therapy services tailored to the unique needs of the patients to achieve their highest practicable level. 
  3. Documents accurately and effectively patient’s progress toward developed goals. Utilizes good communication skills in giving patient’s status and needs to the patient/family member, physicians, insurance, facility staff or other professionals as appropriate.
  4. Provides in-services/training to the patient (Home Exercise Programs), family
  5. members /caregivers and facility staff as needed or as assigned.    
  6. Provides supervision or mentorship to Occupational Therapist Assistants 
  7. (COTAs) and rehab aides to facilitate continued development of their clinical skills during individual or group treatment.       
  8. Actively contributes to interdisciplinary patient care through attendance in
  9. interdisciplinary care plan meetings, family conferences and case   management meetings, and referral of patient to other disciplines as appropriate. 
  10. Attends weekly department meetings/in-services, facility in-services and supports/ participates in HBAH  clinical programs and performance improvement projects as assigned.
  11. Demonstrates knowledge of the company’s vision and values and displays behavior promoting clinical excellence, customer-centered care and the belief that we treat people the way we want to be treated.
  12. Adheres to the company’s and/or facility’s policies and procedures and completes competencies related to compliance, modalities, dress code, information technology, environmental safety, confidentiality, orderliness, risk management, infection control and emergency situations.
  13. Adheres to the requirements of the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
  14. Meets the company’s policy on attendance and punctuality, consistently coming to work as scheduled, prepared to start work on time, meets all deadlines and keeps within lunch periods.
  15. Meets the department/ team’s productivity standards and budgetary expectations, by exercising time management skills and efficient coordination of care.
  16. Demonstrates understanding of the Prospective Payment System (PPS) and adheres to the billing and treatment guidelines to meet the standards.
  17. Continues professional development through literature review, case studies,  attendance to continuing education seminars/workshops, membership in professional organizations and maintaining awareness of professions and  healthcare related issues.
  18. Embraces the team concept by demonstrating encouragement and support to peers and maintaining a good working relationship with colleagues and other healthcare professionals promoting harmony and positive work environment in the department and the facility.          
  19. Encourages input/feedback from others and actively takes corrective action to work continuously on self-development/ improvement.                   
  20. Demonstrates a solution-oriented approach to problems, objectively assesses the situation, considers alternatives, formulates realistic plan and uses resources effectively to solve problems.
  21. Demonstrates flexibility through willingness to travel between facilities  efficiently during scheduled hours and work varying hours, including holidays and weekends for patient care coverage.
  22. Demonstrates initiative and seeks additional responsibilities beyond regular duties or goes above and beyond to promote change or action in others.
  23. Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
