Outpatient Coder, Medical Records
- JOB SUMMARY
- Performs coding and abstracting duties of outpatient records within Medical Records Department. This would include ED/Express Care records, Same Day Surgery Records, Observation records and ancillary charts.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- High School education.
- Graduate of medical records program with either a credential of CCS/RHIT preferred or eligible to sit for credentialing exam. Courses in Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology.
- Training and Experience
- Previous medical records coding in an acute care setting preferred. Must be familiar with medical records documentation. Data entry ability. Pass coding test with 85% accuracy.
