Overview

Schedule: Day Shift , 09:30 AM-06:00 PM, with On-Call responsibilities. On-Call schedule 1 week/month, starts every day at 6:00 pm until 7:00 am the following business day. Weekends and holidays is 24 hours.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Pathologists' Assistant (PA) is a professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in Anatomic Pathology. The PA performs dissection and grossing of tissue specimens, advises clinicians on allocation of tissue specimens, assists with and teaches pathology dissection techniques to residents, fellows, and new employees; performs autopsies, frozen sections, and other intraoperative consultations, and identifies, investigates, and resolves problems related to Surgical Pathology and Autopsy Services. The Pathologists' Assistant functions under the direction of a licensed and qualified pathologist, in collaboration with other health care professionals, and performs duties approved by the California Business and Professions Code, CLIA and other regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1 year of experience as Pathologists' Assistant, preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certifications: Master's degree, Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program required.

Licenses: Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology as a Pathologists' Assistant PA (ASCP), or eligible for the certificate within 6 months of employment.

Pay Scale Information

$104,395.00-$178,963.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
