Perioperative Clinical Educator
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of OR management, and in concert with surgeons and anesthesiologists, develops performance standards for the care of the peri-operative patient. Provides orientation and continuing education to new and current OR staff to assure performance standards are routinely practiced. Circulates throughout all operating rooms to evaluate performance of staff and to promote point of service education/support. While ensuring the care needs of the patient, assists in making assignments based upon staffs' education, technical knowledge, current abilities and need for development. Designs and maintains continuing education calendar for Surgical Services and develops unique programs as needed. Oversees annual staff competency assessment process and maintains accurate records. Works with department leadership to ensure policies and practices reflect all current regulatory standards and appropriate guidelines. Works with hospital Education Department to implement and administer effective student clinical rotations through Surgical Services. Works with management and staff to promote service excellence and a positive attitude toward patient care and teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of approved school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. BSN required. Masters degree related to health sciences and/or education preferred. BCLS required. Evidence of experience in development of adult learning education modules. CNOR preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years OR experience in scrub and circulating RN roles. Strongly prefer broad range of peri-operative specialty experience. Requires previous experience as adult educator.
