*PRN (as needed) variable shift position. Ideal for 3rd or 4th year Pharmacy student.*
Position Summary:
As a Pharmacy Intern, performs functions under pharmacist supervision, including but not limited to preparation of medications, management of stock and supplies, and receiving and filling/refilling prescriptions. When staffing Medication History and ambulatory care shifts, obtains and documents an accurate medication list to help avoid medication duplications, omissions, and errors. In an accurate, professional and efficient manner, interviews patient for information and when necessary, utilizes drug information resources and contacts community pharmacies, outpatient providers, and patient family members to obtain needed medication information and coordinate care. As assigned, perform specific project work to support operations in all areas of pharmacy.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions, and prepares sterile products
- Receives and stores incoming supplies
- Verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records
- Carefully and diligently collect medication histories from various sources
- Accurately enter information into multiple EMRs and pharmacy informatics systems to be used by physicians and other health care providers to determine treatment plans and medication orders during hospitalization, post discharge from the hospital, and in the ambulatory care space
- Communicate professionally with other members of the health care team
- Demonstrate flexibility and be able to function under pressure
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year of related experience preferred
- Idaho Pharmacy Intern License required
- Commensurate with Idaho State Licensure
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
