As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. With our prized Swisslog BoxPicker and tube system, our pharmacy team at La Jolla takes pride in maintaining accuracy, efficiency and timely services while processing 250-300 prescriptions per day. Our pharmacy technicians are supported in their growth and development by our leadership in navigating their career in pharmacy.
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician obtains medication histories in an accurate, professional and efficient manner for patients newly admitted to the hospital while in the Emergency Department. May include, but not limited to contacting community pharmacies, outpatient providers, and patient family members to obtain needed medication information and coordinate care.
The specialty technician will complete multiple responsibilities including, assigned leadership roles in departmental projects and programs. May periodically be responsible for performing basic pharmacy technician duties and more advanced pharmacy technician duties.
This is a full time position with varied shifts (8 hour shifts anytime between 7am-midnight), including weekends and holidays. Includes $2,000 retention incentive and $3,000 relocation assistance to eligible new hires.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:
Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
Must remain in original department/specialty
Must remain in original Job Title
Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
Experience/Specialized Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Certification/Registration:
Current Pharmacy Technician License.
Certification by a National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) required within 6 months of hire.
Minimum 2 years pharmacy technician experience.
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
5 years inpatient experience preferred
