Pharmacy Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, supervisor, or pharmacy director, the Pharmacy Technician performs a range of technical and clerical duties in support of the hospital's unit dose drug distribution system and intravenous (IV) admixture program. Responsibilities include preparing IV medications-such as hyperalimentation solutions and antibiotics-filling automated medication dispensing systems with unit dose medications, and processing and delivering pharmaceutical supply requests to nursing units. The technician also maintains confidential records, enters and retrieves data using the pharmacy computer system, and ensures compliance with departmental policies and regulatory standards. This role plays a key part in implementing the department's procedures and maintaining safe, efficient daily pharmacy operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician License
  • BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association
  • Pharmacy Tech National Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, preferred

This position requires compliance with sterile compounding practices and prohibits the use of cosmetics and artificial nails while on duty.
