PHLEBOTOMIST
- Qualifications:
- California licensed Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1 or higher) current and in good standing.
- Prior hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification.
- Studer or other customer service experience preferred.
- II. Job Requirements (20% of Evaluation Score)
- Organize daily/shift work load and prioritize patient samples/specimens per protocol/standard procedures with department wide support of department and organizational quality metrics, performance improvement, and pillar goals.
- Obtain venous, arterial (arterial-CPTII only), or capillary patient samples as indicated; incorporating age appropriate care for patient.
- Collect, receive, and prepare patient samples for testing/analysis in the clinical laboratory or where indicated, following standard procedures as outlined in department policy and procedure/reference materials.
- Support quality controls, safety, performance improvement, equipment operation/maintenance for assigned laboratories; including all documentation and record keeping.
- Assure appropriate inventory and use of departmental supply and support coding and billing compliance in conjunction with financial services department.
- Supports appropriate knowledge and compliance with confidentiality standards and takes action for non-compliance. Supports department wide maintenance of a strong culture of patient and clinical staff safety with balanced accountability.
- Maintains working knowledge to support regulatory compliance (e.g. OSHA, and other state / federal agencies), readiness for surveys, planned or unplanned and assists in training new staff as indicated.
- Demonstrates and ensures sustained department wide proficiency navigating through Orchard Hospital Health Information Systems (HIS) Chart Access, LabDaq, ELearning, and Orchard Hospital Policies and Procedures.
- Support departments' standards of excellence to meet and exceed nationwide benchmarks for Core Measure, Patient Experience and unit specific Metrics, to support Orchard Hospital's CARE Culture of Excellence.
- Support department budget, quality indicators, infection prevention and control, safety, and compliance.
- Demonstrates effective communication with members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes; Attends and participates in all required in-service training and mandatory meetings (75% staff mtg).
