Physical Therapy Assistant

  • POSITION STANDARDS

    • Graduate of a school or Physical Therapist Assistant Program approved by the American
      Physical Therapy Association. Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in New
      Hampshire. No previous experience is necessary.
    • Must have knowledge of principles, literature, standard practices, modality use and
      techniques, methods and new developments in the area of Physical Medicine.
    • Age of Patients Treated:

      All ages
    • Current BCLS certififcation required within 30 days of hire.
  • POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements.

      • Must have good physical stamina in this department.
      • Physical Activity:
      • Be able to tolerate much lifting,
        bending, walking, stooping, standing and desk work.
      • Upper Extremity:
      • Must be able to guard and transfer
        patients frequently, assist patients with gait and exercise activity.

  • PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

    • Position Objective

      • The Physical Therapy Assistant treats all assigned patients referred to Physical Therapy as
        directed by the patient's referring physician or dentist, under the supervision of a Physical
        Therapist.
    • Performance Expectation

      • Treatment
        • Practices Physical Therapy consistent with the American Physical Therapy
          Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
        • Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the
          department and patient.
        • Confers with the persons most closely associated with the management of the
          patient and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment
          modification and /or progress.
        • Confers with evaluating Physical Therapist on a weekly basis or whenever there is a change in patients medical status. Helps to facilitate re- assessments of patients with the Physical Therapist as required (every 10 treatments or 30 days).
      • Records, Reports and Communication
        • Responsible for the preparation and submitting of department records,
          ensuring confidentiality of all records, including:

          • Discharge reports/summaries cosigned by evaluating Therapist.
          • Progress reports to referring physicians and agencies cosigned by evaluating therapist.
          • Current progress notes on all assigned patients.
          • Special reports as requested by the director or supervisor.
          • Daily attendance records and summaries of same.
      • Assists department in maintaining department inventory in ordering supplies and equipment.
      • Professional Status and Public Relations
        • Keeps abreast of new techniques and trends in the field of Physical Therapy.
        • Attends conventions, meetings or special courses whenever possible and
          shares with the department personnel information gained thereby.
        • Prepares and gives talks to community groups who have made requests for
          same.
        • Maintains good public relations with all community sources.
      • Participate in planning and implementing new programs in the Physical Therapy Dept.
      • Care for the physical area and equipment related to the Physical Therapy Dept.
        and maintain highest possible level of departmental cleanliness and safety.
      • Attends patient related meetings as delegated by PT Supervisor.

Min: $25.82
Max: $40.03
