Role Summary
Are you a Physician passionate about supporting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)? Join The Columbus Organization and make a meaningful impact by providing pediatric-focused medical care in a collaborative, community-based setting. In this role, you'll work closely with interdisciplinary teams, families, and care providers to support the health, development, and overall well-being of children with complex needs. This position blends elements of traditional pediatric care with a consultative approach, offering a unique opportunity to influence care planning and improve long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pediatric-focused medical consultation and oversight for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving services.
- Conduct medical evaluations, including developmental and health assessments, to support diagnosis, eligibility, and care planning.
- Review and interpret medical records, growth/developmental milestones, and assessments to guide clinical recommendations.
- Collaborate with case managers, therapists, and families to develop and support comprehensive, child-centered care plans.
- Offer clinical guidance on pediatric conditions, early intervention needs, and appropriate referrals to specialty care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning discussions focused on pediatric populations.
- Provide consent for treatment when appropriate and ensure care aligns with best practices in pediatric and developmental medicine.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and regional center standards.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted California medical license.
- Board Certified in Pediatrics (preferred) or Family Medicine with pediatric experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children, preferably with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
- Strong understanding of child development, early intervention, and pediatric care coordination.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families and multidisciplinary teams.
