Physician Assistant (PA)

California Retina Consultants is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to support our board-certified retina specialists in delivering high-quality care. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care by performing injections of therapeutics to patients' eyes, administering Fluorescein angiography, performing patient evaluations, assisting with procedures, and managing follow-up care.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive physical exams and obtain detailed patient histories
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), fundus photography, microperimetry, and electroretinography (ERG)
  • Administer and perform intravitreal injections and fluorescein angiographies
  • Perform all routine diagnostic tests
  • Diagnose, treat and manage patient health problems
  • Instruct and counsel patients on diagnosis, treatment plan, and follow-up instructions
  • Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Provide referrals within the health care system
  • Participate in after-hours call coverage
  • Participate in occasional outreach or patient education events (if applicable)
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state medical regulations and ethical standards
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Requirements

About the Candidate

Preferred Skills / Abilities

  • Exceptional patient care, delivering compassionate, high-quality care focused on eye health
  • EMR proficiency (e.g., NextGen/NexTech)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of optometric practices and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals
  • Strong ethical standards with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current PA-C certification and CA state license
  • Ophthalmology and/or Retina experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
