Sterling Medical is in search of two (2) FT Physician Assistants for the SRC/SHPE (Soldier Readiness and Separation Exams) for Ft. Bliss.
-Shall possess a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree. Be a graduate of a Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant.
-Shall have and maintain certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
-PA license from any state.
-Shall have a minimum of three years of experience within the last three years working as a PA.
Sterling Medical has provided healthcare services in support of Ft. Bliss SRPC for over 13 years. We are in the 15th month of a 15 month extension. Another six month extension takes effect April 1, 2020 through 9/30/20. We expect that there will be repeated extensions until such time the long-term follow on contract is awarded.
5. SPECIFIC TASKS. Contractor personnel shall perform all procedures and duties that are normal to the scope of that provider’s particular specialty and for which privileges are granted by the SRPC. These are essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government Civil Service personnel of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
5.2. Specific Tasks – Physicians, Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA).
5.2.1. Perform all procedures commonly performed by medical practitioners in their specific specialty and level of licensing and for which privileges have been granted. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
5.2.2. Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to service members. Review medical histories and progress of service members. Examine service members, make diagnosis of disease, disaster, or injury, and treat service member or prescribe a course of treatment. Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
5.2.3. Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate.
5.2.4. Follow-up on abnormal reports. Abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on service members seen by HCP shall be reviewed by the HCP at the time these reports are available for review. Each report shall be reviewed within one week of its receipt.
5.2.5. Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and SRRC rules and regulations.
5.2.6. Seek advice of consultants when appropriate.
5.2.7. Facilitate service member access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other HCPs in accordance with SRRC policies and regulations.
5.2.8. Prepare and document appropriate history physical examinations, and diagnosis. Maintain
documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with applicable directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete.
5.2.9. Utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate
5.2.10. Respond to cardiopulmonary arrest as appropriate
5.2.11. Advise the Medical Commander of the SRRC clinic where contracted services are being provided of any problems encountered or anticipated in connection with meeting the needs of service members treated. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the Contractor in writing to the COR.
5.2.12. Attend and participate in service member care reports, service member care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of contract services as determined by the COR or Department Chief.
5.2.13. Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and the SRRC Infection Control Program at all times while providing services under this contract.
5.2.14. Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all Joint Commission standards.
