The Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting 1 Cardiologist (Electrophysiologist) to join our Cardiology Team. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care. The Washington D.C. VAMC has a close relationship with our several academic affiliates, including for Cardiology: the George Washington University (serves as a clinical rotation for medical students, internal medicine residents and Electrophysiology Fellows) and Georgetown University (shared general Cardiology Fellowship with Washington Hospital Center across the street).

The Cardiologist (Electrophysiologist) will work within his/her privileges at all times and is expected to maintain current knowledge and skills. He/she is expected to maintain good diagnostic acumen, clinical judgment and therapeutic procedures. Invasive and noninvasive cardiovascular procedures, both performance and interpretation, will be paramount. These will certainly include the following: electrophysiology studies, ablation procedures, placement of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Effort also includes clinical attending in the intensive care unit, along with general cardiology call. Clinical care of the Arrhythmia outpatient. Interpretation and teaching of ECG and Holter as well as other forms of recordings including ILR. Provides direct hands-on patient care. Assesses patients for acute illnesses and determines whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting. Manages chronic disease over time as well, to provide continuity care. Ensures a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
