About the Role
The Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for the leadership role of Section Chief, Applied Cancer Therapeutics (ACT). This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished academic oncologist to lead and expand innovative clinical and translational research efforts focused on immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and investigational therapeutics across solid tumor and hematologic malignancies.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and clinical leadership within a highly collaborative academic environment dedicated to advancing next-generation cancer therapies and improving patient outcomes. This role combines high-level patient care, clinical trial leadership, translational research, faculty mentorship, and academic engagement within one of the nation's premier NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

What You'll Do
• Provide clinical and strategic leadership for the Applied Cancer Therapeutics (ACT) section
• Deliver exceptional patient-centered care for individuals with solid tumor and hematologic malignancies
• Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing immunotherapy, chemotherapy, investigational therapeutics, and evidence-based oncology practices
• Conduct and lead clinical research initiatives focused on advancing innovative cancer therapies and improving treatment outcomes
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, disease monitoring, treatment modifications, and multidisciplinary care planning
• Advance translational and investigator-initiated clinical research aligned with institutional priorities and emerging therapeutic strategies
• Publish and present scholarly work, including manuscripts, reports, abstracts, and clinical research findings
• Ensure clinical research activities are conducted in accordance with institutional protocols, regulatory standards, and Clinical Affairs requirements
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across hematologic oncology, bone marrow transplantation, pulmonary medicine, infectious diseases, pathology, and translational science
• Mentor and educate fellows, residents, medical students, advanced practice providers, and junior faculty
• Participate actively in departmental, institutional, and Clinical Affairs committees
• Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and operational excellence efforts
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, compassion, and accountability aligned with High Reliability Organization principles
About the Department
The Applied Cancer Therapeutics and Medical Oncology programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center are nationally recognized for advancing innovative cancer therapies, translational research, and multidisciplinary oncology care. Faculty work collaboratively across solid tumor oncology, hematologic malignancies, cellular therapy, immunotherapy, infectious diseases, and investigational therapeutics to accelerate the development of novel treatment strategies for patients with complex cancers.

What You'll Bring
• MD, DO, or MD/PhD with board certification in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology
• Significant clinical and academic experience in immunotherapy, chemotherapy, investigational therapeutics, and translational oncology
• Demonstrated leadership experience within academic medicine, oncology research, or multidisciplinary cancer care programs
• A strong record of scholarly achievement, clinical research, and publication in oncology-related fields
• Experience leading or contributing to investigator-initiated clinical trials and innovative therapeutic development
• A collaborative and intellectually curious approach to translational science and multidisciplinary clinical care
• Passion for mentorship, academic medicine, and developing future physician-scientists and oncology leaders

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
License or Certification Requirement
1. License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
2. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in Medical Oncology or a specialty of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree and prior full-time experience in the field of Medical Oncology or a specialty of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
