Post Doctoral Researcher, Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering

The particular skill set needed to advance the intersection of these fields requires extensive familiarity with experimental and computational analysis of soil communities, ecological theory, and familiarity with machine learning. We expect to train the post-doctoral researcher to advance them quickly to the frontier of microbial synthetic biology, particularly in the areas of engineered soil bacteria and biological containment. With such a trainee in the lab, these research directions could flourish to new heights, enabling further funding from USDA, FFAR, DARPA, and NSF funding agencies, which are all interested in this topic. Furthermore, we would be able to continue maintaining our leading position alongside current and future collaborators in premier institutions such as Stanford (Jenn Brophy), Harvard (Ethan Garner), Caltech (Gozde Demirer), and Imperial College London (Karen Polizzi).
