The Division of Preclinical Development in ADME and Discovery Toxicology at Merck Research Laboratories is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Principal Scientist to join the Transporter & In Vitro Technologies (T&IVT) in West Point, PA. The T& IVT group is a center of excellence supporting Merck’s discovery and development portfolio by developing and executing assays that predict the impacts of drug transporters and metabolizing enzymes on absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME), drug-drug interactions (DDIs), efficacy, and toxicity of drugs.
As a subject matter expert, the Principal Scientist within the T&IVT Group will lead collaborative, cross-functional team of scientists to contribute to discovery and development of novel chemical entities. The primary responsibility of the Principal Scientist is to provide ADME strategy centered around distribution and transporter across a diverse portfolio including neuroscience and infectious disease. The organization provides critical support in early discovery through development to position programs for clinical success. The Principal Scientist will also take the leadership role to advance our scientific strategy via developing novel tools/technologies to improve translation of in vitro data to predict transporter related drug disposition, DDIs, and interplay with drug metabolizing enzymes.
Successful candidates should be a subject matter expert in drug transporters and have an in-depth understanding of the impact of drug transporters on the discovery and development of new chemical entities. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, drive scientific strategy and innovation, and have excellent leadership, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
