What you do: Our ideal teammate has work-related experience with the following

  • Designing, planning, and tracking projects related to product performance, specifications and first pass quality, equipment/process design, and recipe/process improvement for both new product scale-up and existing product optimization
  • Researching and developing methods to increase productivity, decrease costs, maintain quality and consistency in current products from a product chemistry perspective
  • Working with the manufacturing organization to improve equipment and design state of the art systems for handling a complex product mix
  • Applying research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities related to recipe and/or process issues
  • Tracking and communicating progress on transitioning products from scale-up to full commercialization, driving completion by keeping teams engaged and identifying recipe and/or process improvements needed for smooth transition from research to manufacturing

What We Need:

What we need

The Process Research Chemist supports R&D and manufacturing in the implementation and scale-up of new production recipes and the identification/resolution of product recipe and process design related quality issues of all Mallard Creek Polymers (MCP) products. This individual collaborates with manufacturing on recipe and process options for product improvement and optimization. As the key interface in the transition of products from R&D through to commercial status; works with all new product development teams and is accountable for driving the transition to full commercialization at the production level. The Chemist provides direction/leadership to the company in technology depth and implementation within MCP and at manufacturing sites employed by the company to produce its products.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required
  • 10 years' experience in chemical industry with at least 5+ years of experience in emulsion polymers chemistry
  • Possess a detailed knowledge of latex product/process development and scale-up is required to recommend robust solutions involving product recipe, process procedures and/or process design
  • Utilize a variety of analytical techniques to solve problems
  • Capable of working on teams and across departments
  • Possess a high level of initiative
  • Able to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Demonstrate expert technical competency or understanding
  • Able to mentor/teach/develop technical staff, inspiring others to do their best
  • Possess decision making capabilities
  • Effectively develops organizational capabilities and integration of objectives



Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of pressure reactions experience preferred
  • Experience working in a chemical production environment desired
  • Experience with process control systems, equipment maintenance/troubleshooting and equipment design and implementation desired



Work Location & Hours: Monday - Friday 8 - 5

Reports to: Research and Development Director
