Product Analyst, Data Movement and Storage (Hybrid)

The Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) value team in our Company R&D IT brings together product management, engineering, and data science expertise to enable data and technology products and services that accelerate our scientists' ability to discover and develop innovative medicines that change the course of human health. In the RaDS value team, the Product organization is responsible for implementing technology products and associated services to advance the drug discovery and development pipeline.

The role will help Product Managers automate movement of raw data from instruments to a system of record for various instrument types. The role offers the chance to execute a strategy for supporting the digital transformation of our scientific tools.

You will be executing strategy for the Research Infrastructure Product Line (RIPL) within Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) IT. You will be comfortable collaborating with all levels of scientific and RaDS IT staff to analyze and distil scientific workflows from which to generate requirements. Success will be the acceptance and adoption of these new solutions by the scientists targeted for each release.

You must be able to empathize with our scientists' needs and be a passionate advocate for their perspectives through all phases of product development.

The position will be based in North America, travel to other sites will be required at times (estimated no more than 15% of the time).

Key responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support function to the RIPL Product Team, ensuring user success of developed solutions
  • Conduct user interviews, and work with support teams to identify problems and document them
  • Execute on strategy to manage solutions to fully automate the movement of raw data from instruments through to a system of record for instrument types
  • Automation of Lab instrument data and device data to minimize scientist's manual movement of data
  • Organize/Introduce Data Lifecycle Management of the data using automated best in practice solutions
  • Work with IT and lab-based staff to proactively map these workflows and needs
  • Synthesize data, observations, and other research into insights to help inform product strategy and decisions
  • Author requirements, test scripts and user facing documentation
  • Work with offshore/remote teams and software vendors to communicate requirements
  • May lead small sized projects with guidance from Product Managers
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned



Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to quickly grasp new technological and scientific concepts
  • 3-5 years' experience with developing and executing on big data strategy (migration to cloud or new provider)
  • 3-5 years' experience of data movement/management problems across the enterprise with regards to size, volume, and velocity
  • Strategic thinking mindset
  • A dedication to appreciating complex problems and tackling a diversity of subject matter with a creative mind and imaginative strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust based, collaborative relationships to drive change within all levels of a large, diverse organization
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technological and scientific concepts and convey their value to clients and collaborators
  • Experience in applying change management concepts in a cross functional group
  • Ability to function in a geographically distributed, culturally diverse environment with both internal and external employees
  • Ability to demonstrate curiosity and flexible thinking to get to the underlying issue and define the problem
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to work with varying levels of ambiguity across multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and users
  • Ability to prepare for, support and facilitate workshops with vendors and internal users
  • Ability to deliver presentations and/or training
  • Ability to work in a team of multidisciplinary scientists and IT personnel, and operate effectively in a matrix environment; team player yet able to work independently



Desirable experience and skills include any of the following:

  • Hands on experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working with high content imaging
  • Demonstrable knowledge of problems facing scientists working a drug discovery lab
  • Understanding of laboratory processes and methods
  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors to address business problems
  • Familiarity with user centered design and UX principles
  • Familiarity with Cloud based software and terms
  • Comprehension of laboratory processes and methods
  • Comprehension of the Product Life Cycle of software products
  • DevOps experience
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors to address business problems



Minimum Education Requirement:

  • B.Sc. in scientific domain or computer sciences or related degree

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5,2023 our U.S. Hybrid work model will be as follows: 1. Three total days on site per week: Tuesday and Wednesday - plus one additional day of choice based on what works best for organizations and/or teams. 2. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:
$107,600.00 - $169,400.00
