The Physician Assistant Program Director is responsible for the overall development, management, supervision, and evaluation of the Physician Assistant Program. This includes supervision of faculty and students. The position is a full-time position. The Physician Assistant Program Director does not have a teaching assignment but may fill in for faculty during absences or staffing shortages.

Responsibilities include:

The Program Director is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the program mission, goals, competencies and curriculum.

Responsibilities related to student advisement, clinical administration or supervision, committee work, program planning, evaluation, management, administration, recruitment, and marketing activities are included.

Responsible for program:

  • program organization
  • program administration
  • fiscal management of the program
  • continuous programmatic review and analysis
  • program planning
  • program development
  • completion of ARC-PA required documents
  • adherence to the Standards and ARC-PA policies
  • supervision and evaluation of program faculty, staff and medical director
  • prepare reports necessary for continued approval or accreditation of program

Actively participate in the processes of:

  • developing, reviewing and revising as necessary the mission statement for the program
  • selecting applicants for admission to the PA program
  • providing student instruction
  • evaluating student performance
  • academic counseling of students
  • assuring the availability of remedial instruction
  • designing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating curriculum
  • evaluating the program
  • evaluating textbooks, reference books and other teaching materials

Minimum Requirements:

  • proficiency in curriculum development
  • must be a Physician Assistant and hold current NCCPA certification
  • must possess a Physician Assistant Masters of Science degree
  • must be able to work on a 12 month full time basis
  • must possess at least three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment
