This position is part of the QuEST Special Operations Team, which is responsible for leading a quality transformation as well as day to day execution of our quality operating model, systems strategy, standardization of metrics, reporting and analytics and leading various quality initiatives which align with the new mission and vision of QuEST. Individuals within the QuEST Special Operations Team are ultimately responsible for effective collaboration, communication, problem solving, change management, and innovation at both the executive level as well as with front line staff - we serve as change agents tasked with developing a culture of identifying constituent pain points (people, process, technology) and implementing opportunities to improve the constituent experience.

The Quality Systems Business Analyst will assist the QuEST Product Owner in leading the business strategy and development for a new audit and real-time process monitoring system that will provide actionable insights and root cause analysis to the UnitedHealthcare Benefit Operations enterprise. The business analyst will work with management and subject matter experts to assess current state processes and create process flow diagrams, requirements/user story documentation and user acceptance criteria. This position will be responsible for the delivery of product features and developing transformative capabilities for our constituents across the Quality and Benefit Operations organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act in a consultant role for interdepartmental team efforts implementing new capabilities and updates to production systems
  • Define process and continuous improvement requirements for new systems initiatives
  • Assess and interpret customer needs and requirements, translating them into operational plans, projects, and enhancements to QuEST systems
  • Serve as a liaison between internal business partners and other 3rd parties including Optum Technology and Vendor delivery partners to transform business requirements into system features, functional specifications and user stories
  • Document business processes and supporting work-flows as they relate to current and future state systems capabilities; developing a deep understanding of customer and product needs
  • Define system related root cause and action plans for business level opportunities
  • Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the team/s, providing direction and support to development and quality assurance teams
  • Define, prioritize, and drive realization of our product vision
  • Accountable for the product backlog and prioritization of user stories with business team and delivery partners
  • Partner with Business, IT and Vendor resources to review specifications and coordinate approvals
  • Develop acceptance criteria, test strategies and manage user acceptance testing efforts
  • Actively participates in Product Backlog grooming sessions, retrospectives, defect management and project team's release planning sessions
  • Manage portfolio of projects end to end, ensuring all Business Analyst deliverables are met
  • Solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Act as a resource for others with less experience, providing training and mentorship to team members as well as business partners
  • Provide regular updates to leadership about projects and improvement efforts
  • Perform other duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department

  • Is detail oriented and obsessively organized



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of related, increasingly responsible experience which includes:
    • Experience with Product Owner, Project Management and / or Business Analysis including gathering/documenting of business requirements, process maps and/or UAT
    • Experience working within an SDLC (system development life cycle) methodology including any of the following: Agile, Waterfall, Smart BPM, RSA
    • AND experience managing issues, risks and decision logs
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in use of Lean Principles and Six Sigma tools, including value Stream mapping and control charts
  • Knowledge of acceptance sampling, statistical computation and analysis
  • Experience working with Quality related systems and/or real-time processes, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Program or Project Management experience
  • Microsoft Project experience
