Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist

Job Description:

Provide technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitor patients; maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement, and safety; perform clinical research as required.

American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics certification required. Sentara Healthcare is hiring a Medical Physicist at Sentara Beach General in Virginia Beach. Under the direction of the Director of Radiation Oncology Physics, the successful candidate will provide high quality therapeutic medical physics services within a dynamic team that supports a broad profile of advanced treatment modalities across a network of 7 clinics in the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia. Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to: supporting the treatment planning and delivery process, machine QA, support of ACRO accreditation, participation in policies and procedures implementation and reviews, and perform all clinical radiation therapy physics duties, as needed. Experience in Stereotactic, HDR and Radiopharmaceutical procedures are preferred. This position will be primarily working at Virginia Beach General Hospital, though will be expected to travel within the network of clinics, as needed. Mileage to secondary clinics is reimbursable. This network is currently transitioning all clinics to an Aria & Eclipse environment with Varian linear accelerators, Siemens CT simulators, and Nucletron HDR afterloaders.
