The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Working with the Patient care team, the radiation therapist is responsible for providing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy treatments. This may include treatment simulation, treatment delivery, and all aspects of patient care. The age of our patients receiving radiation treatments can range from under 2 to over 100 years. The radiation therapist assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge and others of the patient care team by communicating with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of AMA accredited program in radiation therapy technology
  • ARRT Certification
  • NJ license
  • BLS through the American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years previous experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift
  • Per Diem Scheduling

Essential Functions:

  • Provide care to patients undergoing radiation therapy treatment
  • Checks charts of all patients on treatment at regular intervals to eliminate dosage errors, arithmetical errors or errors of intention
  • Enforces all rules and regulations relating to radiation, electrical or fire hazards
  • Checks beam directional devices for accuracy. Checks output of a standard field size when necessary
  • Makes random inspections of treatment room to ensure high standard of technical performance and good patient care
  • Keeps all dosage data up to date and removes obsolete data from books in use in the treatment area
  • Keeps daily statistics of all patients and procedures performed in the department and reports them to the Lead Radiation Oncology Technologist
  • Performs brachy therapy procedures if assigned by the Lead Radiation Oncology Technologist
  • Performs tumor localization procedures
  • Provides patient education that is consistent with the patient's learning needs regarding his/her care in Radiation Oncology
  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
  • Performs other duties as required by the department
