Radiologic Technologist - Safety Sensitive

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the clinical supervisor, a trained technologist performs all diagnostic procedures with the knowledge of all pertinent and academic areas to produce consistent, high quality exams.

The radiologic technologist works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one and to put forth the utmost quality as a technologist. The training they receive will enable this person to perform all necessary procedures on patients in all age groups.

Job Duties

1) Performs radiographic procedures to include neonatal, pediatric, and adult care according to department policy and procedure.

a) Completes all exams according to department policy and protocols.

b) Organizes work load during high volume to expedite patient care and communicates to other technologist all pending exams and any pertinent information.

c) Maintains and implements current skills and knowledge, policy and procedure specific to radiology examinations and procedures.

d) Assists the physician in performing radiology procedures.

e) Maintains specialized equipment and utilizes knowledge of radiology equipment.

f) Promotes positive relationships at the department level, discussed concerns with the supervisor and presents the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.

g) Performs other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.

2) Develops and utilizes mechanisms for evaluating and controlling operations activities.

a) Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new methods of supply utilization.

b) Works with supervisor to create mechanisms for cost effectiveness in the purchasing of supplies while maintaining expenditures within the budget.

Education and Experience

a) High school graduate or equivalent.

b) ARRT Registered or Registry eligible. Must obtain registry within 6 months of date of hire.

c) A student in the second year of an approved school of radiologic technology.

d) Desire for furthering one's education in the various specialties related to the fields of radiology.
