Registered Dietitian
- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

- The Registered Dietitian (RD) delivers comprehensive nutritional care and consultation to patients and their caregivers across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. The RD proactively develops programs tailored to the evolving needs of the populations served and collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams to integrate nutrition into overall care plans. By providing expert nutrition guidance to healthcare professionals, the RD enhances care quality and supports improved patient and client outcomes. The RD also ensures full compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards to maintain the highest level of nutritional care.

- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- One year of previous hospital clinical experience preferred.
- Education and Training:
- Master of Science Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, if credentialed on or after January 1, 2024
- Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Human Nutrition, if credentialed prior to January 1, 2024.
- Completion of a Dietetic internship recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- License, Certification & Registration:
- LDN - MA Dietitian/Nutritionist acquired within nine months of hire.
- RD - Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration within six months of hire.
- Other Requirements:
- Complete a minimum of 15 approved continuing education hours annually to maintain professional competency.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field and deliver nutrition care with minimal supervision.
