Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Houston, TX 77030
Duration: 2+ Years with Possible extension
Shift: 8 Hour Day 07:30 am -04:00 pm, Evening 03:30 pm -12:00 am, and Night 11:30 pm -08:00 am
12 Hour Day 07:30 am -08:00 pm, Night 07:30 pm -08:00 am and 12-hour short shift – 8 hours – 07:00 am -03:30 pm, 03:00 pm -11:30 pm and 11:00 pm -07:30 am.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Delivery of quality Nursing practices and duties.
- Assess the physical, social, and emotional needs of patients and families.
- Perform job duties in tracheostomy care and non-acute and/or acute ventilator care.
- Perform deep suctioning, which may include obtaining specimens.
- Perform wound care including dressing changes (sterile and non- sterile), and obtaining wound cultures as necessary.
- Assist with routine urinary and bowel elimination including catheters, colostomies, and digital stimulation educate patients/residents and/or families regarding health and diagnoses and medication administration including indications for the medication.
- Perform care and management of peripheral and central lines, including PICC lines, IVs.
- Maintain patient/resident confidentiality and a safe patient/resident care environment, including familiarity with requirements defined by The Joint Commission and all other VA regulatory bodies.
- Assess the health care needs of the patient/resident and maintain or develop a plan of care to meet interdisciplinary goals.
- Assess and act on significant changes in the patient’s/resident’s health condition.
- Carry out the plan of care by performing/assigning delegated tasks.
- Collect and document pertinent data into the electronic patient/resident medical record.
- Complete nursing assessments within required time frames, and in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Provide clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Health Technicians.
Experience:
- 5+ years of Nursing experience.
- Preferred 1+ years of experience in Critical Care Nursing.
- Knowledge of basic skills in the use of personal computers (PC).
Education and Certifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
- Must have a current unrestricted license from a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
