Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health)

Contract: 3+ Months

Shift: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Primary Nursing Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional nursing care to students, inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers in state-owned facilities
  • Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and patient progress
  • Makes nursing rounds, takes and records vitals, prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans

Emergency and Monitoring Duties:

  • Provides immediate medical attention during emergencies
  • Administers first aid, arranges hospital transportation
  • Contacts staff physician when necessary
  • Monitors restrained patients every 15 minutes
  • Counsels patients regarding medical referrals

Staff Management and Administrative Tasks:

  • May schedule, assign, and review work of lower-level staff
  • Participates in staff development and education
  • Reviews care plans and orients new employees

Corrections Medical Center Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for healthcare of 20-60 bedridden inmates
  • Performs specialized medical procedures like IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy
  • Organizes 'code blue' team
  • Directs healthcare staff during assigned shift
  • Assists physicians with diagnostic health evaluations

Clerical and Administrative Duties:

  • Charts and records medical information
  • Completes incident and accident reports
  • Documents Medicaid information
  • Orders supplies and equipment
  • Maintains inventory of controlled drugs and medications
  • Arranges outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations
  • Serves as organizational liaison and attends meetings

Major Worker Characteristics:

  • Requires knowledge of professional nursing procedures
  • Understanding of state and federal nursing regulations
  • Skill in operating medical equipment
  • Ability to write concise reports
  • Gather and classify complex information
  • Demonstrate physical fitness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current registered professional nurse licensure in Ohio
  • Issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code.
