Research Associate I, (Institutional Office of Regulated Non-Clinical Studies - Galveston)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent; no experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with laboratory animals and/or in biocontainment laboratories is preferred. Prior experience with performing cell culture and/or molecular and serological assays preferred.

Job Summary:
Research Associate I performs varying standardized laboratory assignments and experiments.

Job Duties:

• Under direct supervision, performs standard research assignments involving a series of related operations.
• Sets up and conducts standard research experiments following detailed technical instructions.
• Labeling and inventory of sample vials/jars and materials for studies
• Inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies
• Prepares biological assays and conducts basic quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected, in accordance with SOP and using appropriate forms/workbooks as required.
• Performs quality control reviews on data and supporting documentation.
• Assists in the compilation and tabulation of data and provides preliminary analysis.
• Assembles, calibrates, operates and makes minor modifications to a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines.
• Cleaning and sterilization (by autoclave) of reusable laboratory supplies
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
