Respiratory Equipment Technician

The equipment technician cleans, disinfects, assembles, and maintains life support and other respiratory care equipment. Included are operation verification procedures for ventilators and other associated equipment such as heaters and oxygen analyzers. Performs electrical safety checks on patient-owned or rental Respiratory Care equipment during the evening hours and on weekends, in the absence of Clinical Engineering personnel. Performs routine emergency equipment and medical gas rounds. Maintains stock levels on Respiratory Care Carts. Performs miscellaneous related duties and other duties as assigned. Maintains accurate computer records of all work performed. Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of six (6) months of prior medical and/or respiratory related equipment maintenance in an acute or sub-acute hospital, homecare company, or educational setting. required. A high degree of accuracy and detail necessary for the acuity of patient services. Must have the ability to make routine mathematical calculations to determine proper time for tank changes. Working knowledge of electronics and mechanical background is desirable.
