RN Charge Nurse

ER RN CHARGE

The Emergency Room Registered Charge Nurse is responsible for the flow and management of a 21-bed Emergency Room through planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and supervising the nursing care provided while in the Emergency Department.

The ER Charge RN will perform a variety of tasks, including making nurse room assignments, assigning tech roles and duties, directing EMS/triage traffic as necessary, assisting staff nurses with any patient care, coordinating between entities such as house supervisor, ER physicians and/or outside physicians/facilities. Other responsibilities as an ER Charge RN will include supervising nursing care provided by staff nurses/ER techs as well as exhibiting accountability through attendance, and acting as a role model for work ethic through activities such as dress code and cell phone utilization.

The role demands critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and strong clinical skills to manage a wide range of medical emergencies and trauma cases.

*Licensure/Certification*

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification are required.
  • PALS certification required
  • TNCC certification preferred

*Experience *

    • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an emergency room is required.

*Skills*

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems
