Specialty: RN-First Assist-Travel
Job Description
RN first assistants play a hands-on role in surgical procedures by controlling bleeding, suturing incisions and wounds and intervening if complications arise
Monitor a patient’s vital signs, including heart rate, respiration and pulse. If the patient begins to struggle, the first assistant alerts the physician so he can address the complications.
Care for patients before and after surgery.
Prior to a procedure, they meet with patients and family members to answer their questions about the surgery, anesthesia and recovery. They also assess the patient’s physical condition to identify problems that would make surgery too risky.
Following the surgery, they evaluate the patient’s condition again to determine if patient is ready for transport to the recovery room.
They look at patient's vital signs and ensure everything is sutured and there’s no bleeding or other complications.
