JOB SUMMARY

Hospice Registered Nurses provide professional nursing care for terminally ill patients to maintain their comfort and quality of life. A hospice nurse serves as a case manager and advocate for their patients and primary caregivers. This includes: keen observation skills, high ethical standards, critical thinking skills, compassion, attention to detail, organizational skills, calm under pressure, patience, and compassionate communication skills.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (ADN/Diploma)

Minimum Work Experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • Current CPR
  • Current Driver's License

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position
  • Accountable for the regulatory functions and duties of the Hospice Registered Nurse
  • Deals effectively with community/consumers
  • Demonstrated advocate of quality and cost effective care
  • Understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families
  • Must be knowledgeable of quality assessment and performance improvement activities
  • Compose applicable policies and procedures
  • Audit, monitor, and retrieve data
  • Coordinate meetings
  • Proven written and editing skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Requires ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills
