RN Surgical Specialties
provides direct patient care to assigned patients in
ENT/Ortho Surgical Specialties (F9).
This 30-bed unit provides care to adult and adolescent patients with surgical conditions. Orthopedic procedures include digit and limb re-implantation, joint replacement, re-constructive surgery, the latest in internal and external fixation of fractures. In addition, nurses care for extensive Head and Neck (ENT) patients, for large wounds, including muscle flaps, as well as plastic surgery patients. The experienced primary nurse will care for patients with tracheostomies, free flaps, stomas, wound vacs, and various drains, TPN or PEGs, as well as manage other complicated interventions. The needs of the surgical patient bring together the physician, nurse, social worker, rehabilitation specialists, ET nurse, respiratory therapist, psychiatric nurse, patient educator, case manager and dietician for a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. Valid RN License, 1 year of Registered Nursing experience, excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
2 years or more nursing experience with current BLS
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
