Job Summary Provides secretarial and medical transcription assistance for the Home Health and inpatient and outpatient departments. Deals daily with confidential and sensitive information. Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort Works in clean, well-lit, ventilated and air conditioned office area, but visits to numerous hospital departments when necessary. Due to patient contact, the exposure to virus or contagious disease is possible but not highly probable. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds. Long periods of sitting, standing, stooping and bending are required. Exposure to a high degree of interruption and stressful situations, time restraints and deadlines. Works a standard work week, but occasional overtime will be necessary. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. independently. Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents Education: Education in word processing systems and secretarial and clerical skills required. Also working knowledge of medical terminology. Associate Degree in office/secretarial administration preferred. Experience: Three (3) years in a professional (medical) or business environment, with medical terminology use, or a graduate of a business or secretarial school, with medical terminology courses. EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Typewriter (type 50-60 words per minute). Computer skills with thorough knowledge of hardware, software programs, specialized printers, copier, transcribing equipment, and telephones and fax machines.
