Senior Accountant
The Stepping Stones Group is a leading provider of therapy and education solutions to children with special needs. We are looking for a Senior Accountant who is ready to step in and help a rapidly growing company get to the next level. This person will take ownership of the day to day accounting responsibilities and must have the proven track record of excellence. We are also interested in candidates who want to learn more and take on additional responsibilities when they present themselves. The ideal applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, strong excel skills a must, ability to prioritize and multitask and be a strong communicator as he or she will frequently deal with customers and work closely with upper management.
Principle Duties:
- Day to day accounting transactions including preparation and posting of journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and other general accounting duties.
- Work closely with A/P and A/R teams to ensure accuracy with the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end close procedures including variance analysis and reporting monthly results to management in a timely manner.
- Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses.
- Prepare financial forecasting and budgeting for management review.
- Assist in preparation of schedules for year-end audit and tax returns.
- Facilitate the migration of certain accounting tasks post acquisitions.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices.
- Ability to work with confidential information, and maintain confidentiality.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong work ethic - ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a demanding detail-oriented environment.
- Self- motivated, time efficient and proactive with ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Confident in dealing with customers and senior management.
- Enthusiastic team player with desire to train/mentor, and willing to assist others where necessary.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department staff, supervisory personnel, associates, vendors and the general public.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience,
- Three to Five years of relevant experience
