The Position

Provide support for “special / innovative” Forecasting projects including but not limited to process improvements, next Generation platforms, current generation model enhancements and creation/implementation of Business Intelligence platforms. In addition, based on assessment of market trends and expected future events, this individual is responsible for helping support delivery of holistic, insight-driven volume forecasts for future Novo Nordisk pipeline products. Communicates realistic demand expectations in a clear, concise, transparent manner, and to all levels of the organization. Sets direction and drives continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies, tools, and core deliverables.

 

Relationships

Reports to Director in Finance & Supply Chain. Contributing member of the NNI Finance & Supply Chain department. Day to day interaction and collaboration with many areas of the business, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Commercial Marketing, Market Access Public Affairs (MAPA), Strategic Pricing, Product Supply, Operations Finance, Global Corporate Finance, Global Insights & Forecasting, and multiple teams within Commercial Insights & Analytics, Information Technology (IT), external vendors. Individual contributor; no direct reports.

 

Essential Functions

  • Next Generation Forecasting Platform
    • Work closely with data vendors on managing project timelines and key data inputs, decisions and assumptions on next Generation Forecasting platform
    • Quality testing of new platform with feedback provided to Forecasting team and vendor
  • Pipeline Forecasting (NASH, Alzeheimer’s, Cardiovascular (CV)
    • Participate and help drive quant Market Research (with Corporate Intelligence & Analytics (CI&A) to support forecasting of future product launches
    • Collaborate with Strategic Finance on existing data assets
    • Develop and communicate the NNI AB (anchor budget) and RE (rolling estimate) forecasts for pipeline products
    • Develop ad hoc analysis tools to support Forecast
  • Business Ingelligence (BI) and Process Efficiencies
    • Assessment of current and new forecasting tools, models, and approaches that inform the demand outlook for Novo Nordisk brands; identify and introduce process efficiencies
    • Work closely with Global Business Services (GBS), HQ BI COE (Headquarter Business Intelligence Center of Excellence), Finance Digitalization team to build/enhance BI capabilities across the Forecasting, gross-to-net and Sales reporting functions; this includes hands on updates to existing BI tools and creation of new tools in coordination with GBS resources to support AB/RE processes
  • Ad Hoc Projects/Analyses
    • Executes delegated ad hoc projects independently, and ensures such projects are completed on schedule, within budget, per direction, and are internally consistent with group deliverable quality

 

Physical Requirements

Approximately 0-10% overnight travel.  Novo Nordisk requires all new hires, both Field and Office-based, to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine prior to the first date of employment. Qualifications

  • Education Level
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Degree in an analytical field (e.g. economics, business, finance, engineering, econometrics, or statistics) is preferred
    • Master's degree in analytical field (and/or MBA and/or CPA) preferred
  • Experience Level
    • 10+ years of relevant analytics, forecasting-related experience demonstrating a steady career progression with increasing roles of responsibility. Advanced degree or strategic consulting experience may be substituted for 2 years of professional work experience
    • 6+ years of pharmaceutical forecasting/analytics and/or strategic consulting experience required. Advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of related work experience
  • Specific or technical job skills
    • Strong project management skills required, with experience implementing a new system across a large, cross-functional team preferred
    • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and follow through in a timely manner as well as anticipate potential roadblocks required
    • Understanding of IQVIA data, including its scope, uses, and limitations preferred
    • Demonstrated analytical skills via MS Excel and presentation/communication skills via MS PowerPoint required
    • Prior Business Intelligence (BI) and Data visualization experience strongly preferred (Tableau, Qlik, Alteryx etc.)
    • Ability to effectively communicate insights to senior management teams, synthesize complex information, make it relevant, understandable and actionable for internal stakeholders required
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders required
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative analysis skills required
    • Strong collaborative and customer service skills required
    • Strong innovation and adaptability: must be able to identify better ways of doing things and work with others to improve methods and procedures; required

  • Managerial experience (if applicable): Prior managerial experience is not required
