SLEEP TECHNOLOGIST

  • POSITION SUMMARY

    • The Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (MD) or designee to provide a comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist will collect, monitor, and analyze electrical activity of brain waves and standard physiological measurements of polysomnography for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological, neuromuscular, and/or respiratory disorders of sleep.
  • EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum Required:

      • Successful completion of an Accredited Polysomnography and/or Neurodiagnostics educational program leading to an associate degree. incumbent must successfully complete, Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist within 6 months of graduation.
        OR
        Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologists.
        AND
        Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. BCLS certification; Must possess valid documentation of your enrollment with the North Carolina Medical Board 'Polysomnography Licensure Act' . Working knowledge of Neurodiagnostic procedures gained through experience a plus but not required.
