Snow Removal & Facilities Support Technician

Position Summary:

Responsible for maintaining safe and accessible hospital grounds during winter weather by performing snow and ice removal. When snow removal is not required, assists with general maintenance tasks within the hospital, including painting, moving furniture and equipment, and hanging items as needed.

Responsibilities:
• Performs snow and ice removal on sidewalks, entrances, and designated areas to ensure safe access to patients, visitors, and staff
• Operates snow removal equipment such as shovels, snow blowers, and small machinery safely and efficiently
• Applies ice melt or sand to prevent slippery conditions
• Assists with general maintenance tasks, including painting walls, moving furniture and equipment, and hanging signage or artwork
• Responds promptly to work orders and requests from the Facility Engineering team
• Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition
• Follows all safety protocols and infection control guidelines
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic knowledge of snow removal techniques and equipment operation
• Ability to use hand tools and painting equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks and responding to requests

Working Conditions:
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to climb stairs or ladders
• Required to bend
• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
• Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information
• Exposure to heat and cold for short periods of time
• Repetitive movements
