Speech and Language Pathologist

Teacher Level: Speech & Language Pathologist

Building Location: District wide

Total FTE: Part-Time to Full Time

Bargaining Unit: Education Minnesota Alexandria

FLSA Status: Exempt

Performs intermediate professional work identifying students with speech-language impairments, providing speech and language services, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide speech and language therapy to qualifying students on caseload.
  • Manage due process requirements and bill medical assistance.
  • Prepare lesson plans.
  • Consult with teachers and parents regarding programming for students.
  • Assess and screen students for possible speech-language impairments.
  • Participate in building and district meetings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with staff in evaluating individual student issues; evaluate new technologies and/or procedures.
  • Participate in meetings (IEP, Evaluation, building staff meetings, departmental meetings, grade level meetings, staff development, open house/orientation) as necessary or required; attend professional development activities.


Education and Experience
Master's degree with coursework in Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field and minimal experience with an internship, student teaching or practicum 2 years prior to employment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA
Teaching License from State of Minnesota
