The Shore Center, a public specialized school for autistic students, is seeking a FT Speech Therapist (Leave Replacement) for the 2026-27 School Year.

Leave Replacement Dates: 9/1/26 - 11/25/26

Title : Speech Language Specialist

Qualifications and Job Description:

-Valid New Jersey Department of Education Certificate and Speech Language Specialist Endorsement

-Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)

-Experience working with and supporting autistic youth (not youth with autism)

-Implement person-centered therapy goals that focus on self-advocacy, self-regulation, and understanding communication barriers

-Introduce and program augmentative and alternative communication devices and tools (e.g. high-teach speech output, low-tech communication boards) supporting a total communication approach.

-Implement therapy plans that prioritize neurodiversity-affirming interventions, respect students' unique characteristics, focus on authentic connection, and build upon their strengths/interests.

-Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in the field of speech language pathology

- Ability to effectively apply the principles of assessment, treatment and hearing disorders

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills Reports To: Supervisor and/or Principal

Responsibilities:

1. Plan, prepare and deliver treatment programs for children with speech and language deficiencies.

2. Provide diagnostic evaluations of pupils referred to the child study team for communication disorders and participate in team conferences related to those pupils.

3. Participate in the development and implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with the IEP Team for those students who are eligible for speech and language services.

4. Provide individual and small group intervention sessions with students who are eligible for speech as directed by the respective IEPs.

5. Keep necessary records for each child and complete all required local, state, and federal reports.

6. Participate in the development and improvement of opportunities for students with special needs by providing individual or group in-service experiences for all staff and parents.

7. Conduct ongoing evaluations of all children in the program to determine appropriateness of their respective programs.

8. Act as educational consultant to classroom teachers and administrators as required.

9. Assist in proper referrals of individual students to agencies and specialists in the community.

10. Attend conferences and workshops to appropriately maintain JD - Speech Language Specialist Page 2 certifications, especially in the areas of autism and speech and language services.

11. Maintain the therapy room and all resources and materials neat and orderly, making it conducive to learning.

12. Participate in Parent-Teacher Night and Back to School and other events.

13. Develop, maintain and implement augmentative systems for students as directed by the IEP .

14. Perform all other duties as assigned by the principal and /or supervisor.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: $60,680 to $80,930 (prorated)
• Benefits: Health & Prescription, Dental
• PTO: Up to 10 Sick days, up to 3 personal days

Terms of Employment: Full-time, 10 months or Part-time as needed

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the MOESC Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
