ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement
- Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring students suspected and identified for speech and language impairments
- Provides a thorough assessment and identification of speech, voice, fluency and language impairments
- Provides screening to identify children with hearing, speech, and language difficulties at state-required intervals and at other specified times
- Assists in the proper referral of individuals to agencies and specialists as determined by law
- Provides appropriate, individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing disabilities in speech or language
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by providing suggestions for the students' daily activities
- Participates with the multi-disciplinary team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual education plans, 504 plans, and Response to Intervention programs.
- Will select, develop, and utilize appropriate instructional materials, including adaptive equipment and technologies Will assist in the ongoing development of the speech-language program, including curriculum, community activities, parent involvement, in-service training, etc.
- Provides information, support, and training to parents, families, and care agencies, when appropriate
- Maintains satisfactory attendance
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies, and the Employee Handbook
LICENSE: Valid Indiana License in Speech Pathology
